How would you say to play/pull a prank [on someone] in Spanish? My teacher apparently didn’t understand what the phrase meant, so she wasn’t able to give me a translation, and online translations have been less than helpful. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

I’ve always heard/ used gastar una broma.
I’m not a native speaker, but my dictionary gives “hacer una broma” - make a joke.
Thanks to all of you. Gastar una broma turns up the most results in Google. which, while not a guarantee of accuracy, is good enough that I’ll use it. I do wonder at how few hits there are, though (only 938).
Maybe Spanish speaking pranksters are a rarity.
