It’s not in the A.P. Stylebook. What are your thoughts on Gordian Knot/Gordian knot/gordian knot? (Used as a metaphor of course.)
Gordian knot for the metaphor. The Gordian Knot of legend gets title caps. The first is a knot that’s Gordian in nature, the second is a specific object with a specific name.
I’d go with “Gordian knot,” since it’s named after Gordias. My WAG is that “knot” doesn’t warrant capitalization.
