I did a search here, but couldn’t find the answer. The web sites I have consulted are giving conflicting information.
I’ll spare y’all the details, but suffice it to say that I went to the doctor yesterday for a couple of things. One of these was my feeling that one should not be having “cherry Koolaid” exiting one’s “back passage” as the Brits so charmingly call it.
After the dreaded exam, the doc diagnosed internal hemorrhoids and prescibed Anusol HC suppositories. My question is this. Some sites say to insert the suppository enough to be contained inside the sphincter (about an inch). Some sites say to insert "as far as possible (finger length I guess). I am really hoping that the former is adequate.
I have had the same malady. I did not receive any specific instructions but I have always inserted them far enough so they don’t come back out. After a certain amount of pushing, you sort of reach this point of no return where they get drawn in. Never a need to insert any part of the actual finger.
“As far as possible” is ridiculous, what are you going to do, chase it up there with a broomstick?
If you push it up far enough so it doesn’t come down, and doesn’t feel like it’s stuck in your sphincter, it should be up high enough. And if it is stuck in your sphincter, you will feel it!
