I’ve been using Quicken for years and years–this has never happened.
Trying to reconcile the checking account–it says the last time I reconciled was 11/11/08 (tomorrow) and gives the wrong opening balance.
Any ideas?

What was the date of your last rec? My guess is that the last date was 10/11/08 and you just clicked the wrong month. As far as the opening balance, I’m not sure about that.
I beleive there is a way to adjust it (in QB you can even undo the last bank rec), isn’t there a link nearby that says “What if the opening balance is wrong?” (No, there’s not I just checked, there is in QB though)
Personally…I would just continue with your rec as you normally do, and as long as it adds up at the end of the month, you should be fine.
Oh, I just thought of something. Check to see if when you were ‘clearing’ your transactions you accidentally clicked one twice and changed the C to an R, that will changed the opening balance.
When I reconcile in Quicken I never put in the date - it just uses the date I do it. I agree that maybe you made an entry R by mistake. You can look through your register to see.
This happened once to me a few years ago, I never figured out why, but there is a way to hack the balance. I doubt it is the same in the version you’re using now.
QB is quickbooks?
I was thinking of going back and re-balancing October but that would mean changing all those R’s to nothing. No, I’m not doing that.
I’m going to look at this again later tonight–I have to go to a meeting.
Thanks for the help.
Okay, oops. There was a large deposit last month (a side job my husband does) that I didn’t enter so last month’s reconciling was off. I think I was waiting on the pay stub.
Thanks for the help.
Glad it all worked out.
Yes, QB is quickbooks. It’s the business version of Quicken (kinda), I spend most of my workday starting at a QB screen.
