No, this isn’t one of those who would win polls (Batman wasn’t even mentioned!), instead, the three titles are three three movies I just came home with from Blockbuster, and I’m not sure which one to watch first!
Now, I could sit here and list what movies I like, but that’d be boring. Instead, I want to know what movie you’d watch first and why. Again, the choices are:
[ul]
[li]The Abyss[/li][li]Mulholland Dr.[/li][li]Jerry Seinfeld Comedian[/li][/ul]
I’m gonna go grab some grub to go with my movie watching, so I expect several good answers when I get back. Don’t let me down![list]
One’s a science-fiction thriller. Fun stuff, but pretty much popcorn fluff.
One’s a documentary. Interesting and sometimes funny.
One’s David Lynch. And I’m lukewarm on Lynch.
Blargh, all of you took way too long, except for What Exit?. Well, thanks for the advise anyways you tardy bastards
Anyway, I went with WhatExit’s advise and watched The Abyss followed by Jerry Seinfeld Comedian, and I’ll likely get around to Mulholland Dr. tomorrow.
Anyway, after fretting for a few moments of which version of The Abyss to watch, I opted for the Special Edition, which turned out well, as I really liked the movie )though it dragged in placed), and it seems it’s widely regarded as the superior edit.
As for Comedian, I found in interesting, though a bit misguided, and very poor sound quality.
Hopefully Mulholland Dr will maintain the ‘decent flick’ trend.
Jerry has a lot of fans, and I guess I’m not one. The last time I sat through Jerry doing standup, I kept waiting for the funny part. Then it was over.
I’m a fan of Seinfeld, but the Comedian movie isn’t really Jerry doing standup. It’s a documentary that’s more about the behind-the-stage stuff before and after he performs at comedy clubs, and the work that goes into coming up with a routine. And it kind of compares and contrasts Jerry (the seasoned pro) with an overly confident up-and-comer (who is probably down-and-gone by now). I found it interesting–especially the interaction of the various comedians. Some are friends and some are not-so-friendly rivals. It was interesting, but not riveting.
