Quicktime Player 7.2 for Windows help

I recently downloaded Apple’s Quicktime 7.2, which has added full screen play in its free version. The preferences have an option for hiding the player controls in full screen after a selected period of time, such as 1 second, 2 seconds, etc. When I view a movie full screen, it doesn’t hide the player controls. The only way to not have the player controls show on the screen is to uncheck the “display full screen controls” box. But then, I have to exit full screen to use the player controls. Is there a way to make this work so the player controls hide when I go to full screen, or conversely, is there a way to keep them hidden and use a hotkey command to display them? If it makes a difference, I’m running Windows XP Pro with SP2.
