I’ve got a first date Saturday night and I need ideas. I’d like to get dinner and drinks somewhere quiet in Lakeview/Lincoln Park/Downtown. Something affordable but not cheap. Possibly with a dessert place nearby that we could walk to afterwards.
Any ideas?
Well, “Affordable” is a relative term. If you don’t mind dropping a hunnert bucks on dinner, you might try Geja’s on Armitage. Lots of dessert options nearby. Gemini Bistro is another option.
Overall, I’d suggest you meander over to yelp.com and do some due diligence over there. Good luck!

Sola (on Lincoln just south of Irving Park) is nice and not outrageous but you’ll drop a hundo no problem, probably more like $150 with a few drinks.
Cafe Ba Ba Raba is great fun if you like Tapas and it should cost you a bit less but it can get noisy and isn’t really intimate.
If you like beer Goose Island is always good, inexpensive, casual. He menu is pretty good and shouldn’t break the bank.
I live in Lake View and I eat out often. I’d suggest Yoshi’s Cafe, Frog and Snail or Jack’s on Halstead.
They’re a bit more upscale than the typical Lake View place, but you’re not going to spend a serious amount of cash.
