I had a know-it-all Catholic friend repeat this (over and over, to diverse audiences who’d roll their eyes) as THE way to remember to make “The Sign Of The Cross” in the right direction.
I retorted that it doesn’t help unless you’re a rich guy from a century ago, who had specific pockets in his vest… excuse me, waistcoat… dedicated to one’s billfold and pocket watch.
