Mumford and Sons wins the Internet
Or perhaps XXL
Or pretty much any of her videos.
Sorry, you’re both wrong.
(NSFW but YouTube is going to force you to sign in to view the “explicit content”, so I think that qualifies for the “two click” rule)
Video unavailable?
May I suggest
The Wizard of Ahhhs by Todrick Hall featuring Pentatonix.
It is a 6.5 minute retelling of the Wizard of Oz movie done in popular songs performed a cappella. Features extraordinary costuming and makeup (for a seven minute video). It captures the surreality of the original story. And, if you are familiar with the source of some of the songs they use, there are lots of inside jokes, too. But you don’t have to be familiar with any of the music to get a kick out of this.
Did I mention it’s a cappella? (Except for the cup in the cup song and some percussion.)
Tool and Foo Fighters have the best videos ever.
These are all good. Thanks!
Build Me Up, Buttercup. Amateur ukulele with a cool reveal at 1:10. Didja see it coming?
Adam Buxton’s BUG has is a great place to find good music videos, here’s a few of my favourites :
I’m a bit partial to the Leonard Nimoy version of The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars.
I’m not the biggest Madonna fan… but Walk Off The Earth’s cover of "Material Girl"is at least the best of that particular band’s videos, I think, and one of the best music videos on YouTube. You wouldn’t believe some of the instruments used - and it was shot in one take.
I like it when the song and video are conceived together. My favorite: A--Don't Nobody Move (This Is a Heist)--Tony Powers - YouTube . Loads of cameos.
No, I sat there wondering what on earth is going to happen at 1:10. I didn’t guess.
An oldie but goodie from back when music videos were still a new thing.
Malcolm McLaren – Something’s Jumping in Your Shirt.
It stars Lisa Marie Smith who later became the Calvin Klein Obsession girl.
It seems like a mash up of a Mother’s Day perfume ad, 1950s teenage angst movie, and high-brow art film.
Horse Outside by the Rubberbandits wins:
[noparse]The Rubberbandits - Horse Outside - YouTube (NSFW)
Okay, but seriously, I think the best music video ever made is A-Ha’s Take on Me.
I was about two minutes in before I realised what was going on.
A two part mini-movie by Biting Elbows - The Stampede and Bad Motherfucker - spoilered due to violence, profanity, and bikinis
This is kinda off-topic, but I was just watching the Blu-ray of Help! and I was impressed all over again at the proto-music videos that make up the film. There’s some really neat stuff in there, my favorite being the smoky recording session for “You’re Gonna Lose That Girl”. And I love that shot looking down the neck of Paul’s bass on “The Night Before”, They weren’t high tech, but in many ways they set the pattern for what was to follow.
I’m pretty fond of both music videos for OK Go’s This To Shall Pass:
(Rube Golderg) OK Go - This Too Shall Pass - Rube Goldberg Machine - Official Video - YouTube
(Marching Band) OK Go - This Too Shall Pass - Official Video - YouTube
But they really have a lot of awesome videos (Including Here It Goes Again, of course)
