My luck hasn’t been so good when there’s three trap-word choices (Bingo, Dingo, Lingo), but instead of going with a sleuth word, I trusted the B, and happy to have nailed it for once. Makes up for guessing wrong on the #2 word…I had three choices for that one too (Fifth, Fight, Filth), but going with Fight or Fifth would tell me what it was.
I’ve been sometimes going with low-use letters over commons lately - not necessarily based on a gut feeling, but trying to “outsmart” Quordle - lol, and sometimes it pays off, other times it doesn’t. You just never know.
Whenever I do that I usually just end up outsmarting myself instead With all these repeats lately I think maybe trying to outdumb quordle might work out better!
We’ve had daunt as an answer at least three times now. Have we ever had any other variation of _aunt as an answer, or is it always daunt? It feels like it’s always daunt.
Dumpy to the rescue once again…saved me from the horrid _AUNT trap. It also gave me the P for the #2 word, but unfortunately I lost the coin toss with that one.
@EllisDee That’s one helluva large beer to hold - ouch! You’d think they’d give some of the others in that mega trap the limelight now and again, though I think we had Gaunt not long ago too.
@chiliwillybing LOL, outsmart or outdumb…we gotta out something! Also, thanks for that list…so we have had Gaunt several times too. I didn’t think to check online for past answers.

I don’t like these puzzles where the last word or two are pretty much already solved for you. They just seem unimaginative and lazy to me.
Yeah, doesn’t make for a very challenging puzzle does it? Even Quordle was that way a bit too with three R words, two of which had double R’s. I feel like they just put a few letters into an anagram solver and toss up the first four they see, regardless of how similar they are. I don’t mind getting some help with repeated letters, but today’s was a little too much help. That said, due to taking 5 guesses to nail that first word, I was kind of glad there wasn’t some type of trap word or something.
It took me a bit to see any words for the #4 word…with only the R in yellow, and only the U left to play, I finally saw Grump and was sure that was it - Gruff wasn’t even on my radar, but it was all it could be from there.
WEEKLY CHALLENGE (if you guys haven’t played it yet).
And now it’s Y’s turn for some love and attention. Dryly was kind of a tricky word…I knew it had to be a double letter Y, but it took me a sec to see it. I decided to take my chances on the M over the B (Bossy-Mossy), and glad to get it right, which got me back out of 8’s-ville…at least for the time being.
