Quotation grammar

If one quotes an entire sentence from something, do I need to put a period at the end of the quotation marks? If so, can I go on with my sentence?

For example (quote from Robert Frost’s “Mending Wall”):

Would it be acceptable to say:

If not, how would I make that sentence grammatically acceptable?

Yes, you can go on with the sentence, but you need a comma rather than a period after the quotation. Also (even though you didn’t ask), you do NOT need to use triple quotation marks if your entire quotation is a quote-within-a-quote – regular quotation marks will do.

Thanks, Fretful.
