Lorca’s poem “El Lagarto Viejo” (“The Old Lizard”) begins:
*In the parched path
I have seen the good lizard
(one drop of crocodile)
meditating. *
He doesn’t identify the lizard as a chameleon, though. Full poem in both Spanish and English here.
