How do I “Quote” somebody?
How do I get names in a larger bolder font?
Sorry for being a dumb-ass newbie! 
No worries–everyone was a dumb-ass newbie at one point.
Up near the top of the Compose New Message screen is a link labeled vB code. Click that link and you’ll find out all sorts of text manipulation tricks.
Briefly, the vBB (for vBulletin Board, the software used here) codes work similarly to HTML, using square brackets instead of angles. To quote something, you’ll put the word ‘quote’ in square brackets, to end the quote, you’ll put ‘/quote’ in brackets.
So if I want to quote you, I’d write:
[ quote ]How do I “Quote” somebody? [ /quote ]
and leave out the spaces.
Bold text is done with [ b ] and [ /b ], again without spaces.
A quick and dirty way to quote a post is to click the “Quote” button underneath someone’s post. This will paste the entire post, without signature, into a new message for you (and will bold it as well). I’d suggest doing this sparingly, as quoting large posts in entirely can be really annoying to read onscreen.
