It’s amazing the world’s despots, assassins, genocidal maniacs et al have been able to get along all these years before the guidance of the Bruckheimer/Simpson junta.

I agree, what arrogance. Does this guy think the world revolves around Hollywood (I think a lot of people who live there do).
I can’t ever remember a film where anybody ever hi-jacked an aircraft to crash into buildings.
Besides, at the time of the attack, open mouthed and in shock I was thinking exactly the opposite. I was thinking that if you did go to a movie producer with this “plot” he would throw it out for being to unbelieveable.
Didn’t the Arnie film The Running Man end that way?
I haven’t seen the movie, but that’s Stephen King’s ending for the novel. Hollywood does seem to tack on alternate endings for a lot of King stories. I guess, by an extension of Mr. Altman’s logic, Steve-o must of seen it in a movie first, though.
My WAG is that the terrorists got the idea from those
kids at Columbine - Klebold and whatever-the-other-one’s-name
was.
They had written somewhere that they toyed with the idea
of flying a plane into the WTC but disregarded it - probably
because there were too many logistics they couldn’t have
overcome.
I think Mohammed Atta picked up that idea and ran with it-
and it took him about two years to get all the pieces in
place.
Let me correct myself - they simply had they idea to hijack
a plane and crash it into New York City:

Come on, you don’t really believe that world class terrorists would get ideas from kids, do you. These terrorist had already bombed the WTC well before columbine, remember.

As far as I can work out, this was not Mohammed Atta’s plan, merely he was the stupid idiot who would carry it out for Al Quada/Osama bin Laden.

Yes, they had tried to destroy the WTC before. They couldn’t. Al Qaeda knew what they wanted to blow up, Klebold and Harris unknowingly gave them the idea how.

After watching a few of his movies (in particular The Player), I honestly think he does.
Nope. The book (a damn fine story, IMO) did end that way, but the movie’s similarity to it ended with the title and main character’s name. The book/movie disparity is about on par with Starship Troopers.
Yeah, and it’s easy to see where the Nazi got the idea for that Holocaust thingie of theirs - they must have seen it in Schindler’s list. If those danged Hollywood producers could ever learn. And, for the love of God, stop showing Mars Attacks on the cable before some alien civilization gets the wrong idea.

Even if it were true that they got the diea from Hollywood it still wouldn’t matter. These people were immoral murderers trying to terrorize us. Their actions should have no influence on our culture.
Only the book ends that way, the movie is only remotely connected to the details of the book.
