For some stupid reason, this is interesting to me. And it does sound about right. That’s about the last time I remember chewing Bazooka bubble gum. It’s only slightly better than the crap you’d get with your Topps baseball cards, which tasted half of stale bubblegum and half of cardboard, with the texture of shards of glass (until you got it well chewed-up.)
I was going to comment that part of the reason they were rebranding is that nobody remembers the Joe Palooka comics that inspired the name. But I can’t find where in the hell I read about this connection.
In any case, I for one saw this coming when Archie comics stopped gamely referencing short-lived youth trends of the 1930’s. The entire culture is up in the air now. Next thing you know, they’ll start stripping the anti-semitism out of The Saint.
