R.I.P. Billy Wilder

Following hot on the heels of Dudley Moore and Milton Berle, director Billy Wilder died today at the age of 95.

This post is the first I’d heard of it.

Damn. :frowning:

Three great names in the entertainment biz, all gone in the span of 24 hours or so.

And they always happen in 3’s…

But these are some pretty big, stupendous 3’s! :frowning:

Esprix

This is quite the Trioka. :frowning:

Think Heaven was getting bored, and needed some fresh tallent to liven-up the entertainment…?

Awwwww…mannnnn.
:frowning:

Wilder was a personal fave. Sunset Boulevard. Seven Year Itch. Double Indemnity. Witness for the Prosecution. Some Like It Hot. Classic after classic after classic. Not many like him still around.

Good news: Somebody (TCM?) is going to be running a retrospective and I’m finally going to get around to seeing Ace in the Hole, Sabrina, The Apartment and some other films I’ve never gotten around to seeing.

Farewell good sir…enjoy the view from up there.

As they say, it always happens in threes. I’ll bet Bob Hope and Ronald Reagan are sleeping easier tonight:D
I havent seen that many movies by Billy Wilder, but one I did see that I thought was excellent was Stalag 17. A damn good movie.

Aye. Damned good movie. Kinda creepy though when the one guy hallucinated that the guy in the wig was really a woman.

I didn’t know he was still alive!?!?
I just bought The Apartment on DVD. Great movie. I actually liked Shirley MacLaine in it.
