R.I.P. David Lynch

yes, same picture

Another big fan of Mullholland Drive.

His portrayal of John Ford in The Fabelmans was superb. His small parts like were frequently a joy.

I don’t believe there’s another meditation on guilt with as much power as Mulholland Drive. It’s devastating.

I’m another fan of his Dune. But then I also love Verhoeven’s Starship Troopers. To my mind each of them took material that was more or less conventional and turned it into something baroque and subversive. (I’m a fan of subversive.)

I was annoyed by the way he ended his revival of Twin Peaks, but respected his artistry. Mr. Sound Design, he was, with a vengeance.

He was one of the few artists whose name will forever be an adjective. Condolences to all his near and dear.

Lynch’s Twin Peaks series had a trans character, Denise, in 1993.

Granted, she was played by David Duchovny, but still, it was a big deal for the time.

He was ahead of his time with that. Also it generated some immortal dialogue:

Loved that, but recall it as being titled “Life in Hell.”

There are a number of strips that I remember very clearly - and I bought all the books too, though I’ve long since given them away.

you may be right–getting old :frowning:

Same. My favorite panel started with

Akbar: Jeff, do you love me?

And went from there.

Yes! Last panel - they are sitting right next to each other on the couch.

Yes! So sweet.

I’ll admit this is turning into a hijack, but Akbar and Jeff are my favorite Life in Hell characters. They rule.
