Anyone else manage to get it this year?
No, but I remember hearing about this as a little kid and always meaning to try it, but always forgetting.
Yup. I picked it up in college from a friend, and I still try to do it each month.
Never heard of it before.
Sounds like typical devilbunny propaganda, though. Encouraging magical thinking, encouraging letting down our guard of skepticism, encouraging thinking of rabbits as cute and harmless and bringers of good… so the Fluffy Hordes of Bunny Evil can go for our throats.
I’ll have to use it in a story.
What?
I picked it up by growing up watching Nickelodeon. The first of the month, they would remind you to say “rabbit rabbit” at the beginning of the month for good luck.
**Attacklad **woke me up saying something like “I can’t believe I’ve been asleep since last year” to Ms. Attack. I remembered the rabbit thing, went into Attacklass’ room and slowly said “Rabbit rabbit rabbit rabbit”, by which time she had woken up enough to say it also.
Rabbits & hares, apples & pears!
I’m more a fan of pinch punch first of the month - it’s got actions!
I said White Rabbit. That’s the way I heard it and that it was supposed to be the first thing you say on the first of the month.
Do I get bonus points for remembering on New Year’s Day?
<Sings>
“One pill makes you larger, and one pill makes you small…”
What?
At the school I went to, each class in the younger grades, up until 4th grade was associated with an animal. So 1st grade we were the Tabby Cats, and whatever,
Anyway, in third grade, my teacher was Ms. Falls, wonderful woman. That year we were frogs. She taught us to say ribbit, ribbit
But I never remember to say either one.
Until someone said “rabbit” just after the ball dropped last night, I’d never heard of this before.
