Rachelellogram: You're kidding, right?

Ooh yeah, I remember that thread. I read about a page of it, but between the creepshow factor and being lawyered to death, it lost its charm. Thanks.

Pedo, pedo apologist… either way, ModernPrimate is one creepy, awful poster.

Well, he or she has been banned now, so I guess that problem is solved. A link or two to save folks wading through that mess would be nice though.

Well, I’ve noticed she’s real fucking foul mouthed… I mean, fingered… and opinionated and whiny and all that and that’s okay coz I like characters except for the being fucking rude shit.

Sorry. I was going to collect some quotes, but since the poster in question was banned, I think it would be inappropriate. If anyone is really interested, reading the last couple pages of the (now locked) thread ModernPrimate started in GD should suffice.

Did you have to say ‘fingered’?

Yes. I figured she might not be a foul mouthed person in real life that she’s just a foul fingered (as in typing…) internet caricature.

If you look to your left, you may hear a loud whooshing noise.

Am I too deadpan? I feel like this happens a lot…

Don’t worry runcible spoon, I got it. And immediately sent beams of hate at you for that mental image

Wait… that was my next line…

No, I actually thought everyone was seriously offended and I’d be banned.

I try not to be the “you should have looked that up yourself” type of guy but Rachelellogram’s recent question Why is ham so salty? had me banging my head against my desk. Her family has ham every year and and she doesn’t know that ham is cured with salt? And having such a dislike for ham, she never asked anyone why it was salty? I mean, a four-year-old child would ask somebody. And even then, she couldn’t do the simplest kind of search? What adult in our society doesn’t know about salt curing? Seriously? Really? I had to really restrain myself not to be sarcastic in that GQ thread.

People pose all sorts of questions here that could be easily answered by a quick Google-search. But there are some really knowledgeable people here that can provide additional insights.

Rachel isn’t so bad. I like her blunt kind of style sometimes. Some of you need to lighten up. IMHO.

It’s not really the failure to google that bothers me most. Her family eats ham at least once a year. She should have learned this by now from people in her real life She shouldn’t have to turn to the internet at all for this. It’s not like she grew up in a vegetarian culture or in a religion in which pork is forbidden.

I am led to the conclusion that her family simply didn’t know the answer.

None of them? I can’t believe it.

Well, I believe it less that Rachel’s been mutely not eating the ham for years and hasn’t asked anyone why it tastes so salty.

Maybe she’s from one of those weird states that sugar cures ham and her family imports salt cured ham…

Nobody could have guessed that salt was an ingredient in ham? :dubious:

OTOH, maybe she just wanted more details about how ham is made, and why it ends up salty. Not exactly top secret information either, but not quite as mindless.

Her question was why is the ham so salty, not is there ham in salt.

Meh.

Rachellelogram has her share of faults and an ignorance of how ham is cured is wayyyy down on the list. Now you’re just trying too hard to find something wrong with her.
