This is silly, but recently the pronunciation of the name “Ragle” has created controversy in the Mudd household. RAH-GULL, RAY-JEL, or something else? (This is a character in a Philip K. Dick novel, so I imagine it is the same pronunciation as Ragle Park in Sonoma County.) Thanks.
The gentleman with whom I worked whose last named was spelled Ragle, always pronounced it RAY-gl (sort of rhymes with inveigle). I will not claim that settles the dispute as I suspect that his Ragle was a shortening of something much longer in Polish, but he is the only Ragle I know.
One more vote here for “Ray-gull”, based on actual acquaintances who pronounce it that way.
