I’m pretty sure he could. Fer instance, “The oyster owns a fine wristwatch. Rotate your walruses twice a year.” Still, for not trying, his results are pretty damn impressive.
Ah, the classic Doper response I find so predictable and endearing. Seagull the thread with an ad hominem without evincing ever had an original thought in your brain.
Brava, my friend. Brava. You make the Dope proud. I’m sure all your friends like you. ::sniff::
The key word there was “slandered”. Truth is an absolute defence against slander.
This is just sickening.
I think **levdrakon ** has a glimmer of a point. Certainly the fact that Obama is black and yet not solely focused on so-called black issues is one of numerous reasons I intend to vote for him. I think it sends a wonderful message to the world - there’s a *really * new guy in town.
The difference is that I don’t think Obama is not otherwise devoid of qualities worth voting for.
I think he’s got good qualities too. I just bristle at the notion we should elect him because a black president should be able to be boring and safe and ineffectual, too.
We’re talking about POTUS. I want an ass-kicker, and it’s disingenuous to elect him for any other reason.
Just for you, the next person who says he’s voting for Obama because Obama is boring will get a punch in the mouth. Of course, the next person who says that to me will be the first, and I don’t expect it to come up at all.
Seems to me a lot of people here think he kicks ass.
I think a lot of people think he kick’s ass because he’s an articulate black, which is condescending.
But, that’s all I’ve got for this thread. I hope he really does kick ass. I really do.
Nice use of a loaded word in the middle of your reverse-racism accusation. Very swift. Makes me wonder if the people voting for Obama are the real racists, not the ones who’ll refuse to vote for him on account of his skin color.
Do you get mad at your SO because of something they did in your dream, too?
levdrakon, who do you think would have been a kick-ass candidate? I mean, of the major candidates this year, I probably would have chosen Edwards based solely on policies, but the differences were pretty small between any of them. Can you define your idea of kick-ass a little more? I mean, the one thing that most people agree on is that Obama is a very inspiring speaker, which is probably how I would be likely to define kick-ass.
Maybe you want to be voting for him because he’s black, and you want that to mean something important, and if so I understand your frustration. But I’m supporting him because he’s smart, levelheaded, liberal, and not a Republican. If I were supporting him because he’s black, I’d be very unsatisfied at this point.
Suge Knight.
Sorry, I’m 52 and out of touch. I have no idea who that is.
Well, that’s where we disagree. Trolling IMO would be if Nader was saying things he didn’t sincerely believe, solely to get a rise out of his audience. You can think he’s saying stupid shit (I do), and even exaggerating his rhetoric way over the top (I do), but I think he genuinely believes that every vote he can steal from Obama is good for his country and his principles (I don’t). I just think “troll” is a very specific term of art that doesn’t apply to Nader, but of course YMMV.
A very large, generally very angry man.
Best known for beating a writing credit out of Vanilla Ice.
Did you read Little Nemo’s cite? Trolling isn’t exactly what he’s doing, but it’s not saying what he believes, either.
THanks, really.
Vanilla Ice?
Does the “dirt of his shoulder” move count?
I used to respect Ralph Nader’s chutzpah and push for the issues a lot more, but not he’s just moving into the moonbat territory.
Speaking from the conservative wing of the extreme left…
I think what made Nader attractive before was the sheer hopelessness. Progressives despaired of making any headway, the most liberal party was determined to be Tweedledum for Tweedledumber, Republican Lite.
We were so much older then, we’re younger than that now.
Oddly enough, they do, possibly because ‘liking each other’ tends to be a standard component of friendship. Your ability to craft an insult is up there with your ability to frame a cogent political argument.
