Ram Players disrespect St Louis Police.

If this is what constitutes “disrespect” then the police have some goddamned thin skins.

Any St. Louis cops who feel offended or “Disrespected” by this - and I’m going to hazard a guess most don’t give a shit - should put on their big boy/girl pants, and maybe give their badges and guns to grownups who don’t cry like little babies at the slightest hint of offense.

Good.

As far as I can tell, no actual police have said anything.

Because football > police violence.

Good. The NFL is showing sensitivity and common sense for once. The players shouldn’t be disciplined. I agree with the grand jury decision not to bring charges against Wilson, but people should be allowed to express their disagreement with it as long as it’s done in a peaceful manner.

I belive one of the legitmate concerns was crowd behavior yesterday. The Ferguson agitators tried to disrupt the the Macy parade on Thanksgiving. Thankfully the cops were able to prevent it. All the news sources covered the story…

I expect they had extra cops at the Rams game for the same reason. There was always a chance people would buy tickets and get inside. Then cause an interruption or incident.

Having players on the field making their own protest didn’t help. Thankfully there weren’t any incidents in the crowd. That could have gotten pretty violent if it had. People are packed into those stadium seats and a panicked crowd would injure many many people.

Of course what the players did wouldn’t incite anything that wasn’t already planned.

Yeah, a few guys silently putting their hands above their heads is clearly inciting violence.

You’re quite a worrier, aren’t you?

Thanks, good to know.

Gosh, really? There was a chance that, at a professional football game, someone might purchase tickets to the game and, using that ticket, enter the stadium? Wow!!!1!

It is your belief this would have somehow caused panic?

Oh, so you’re saying it wouldn’t have.

So what’s your point?

The point is it’s a football game. The players are there to play and not to make grand statements. They even went after Tim Tebow for his post-touchdown prayers. The NFL keeps it fair by keeping all that type of stuff off the football field. The only exception is when a player dies tragically. The team will put something on their uniform in tribute. That’s a nice gesture and I’m glad it’s allowed.

The players can certainly express whatever opinions they want off the field. They are public figures and they frequently give interviews.

Was Tim Tebow fined or suspended for his prayer thing?

I can’t recall if Tebow was fined or not. They may have just asked him to stop. Which would be appropriate in this case too. The main thing is to put a stop to it before all the teams join in.

They didn’t go after Tebow for post-TD prayers. They fined him for uniform violations for having bible verse on his eye black. The league is ridiculous about uniform violations, and they’ve fined other players for eye-black violations too (fines are usually for too much).

Players pray after scoring all the time.

I’m wondering if people were mad at the LA Clippers for wearing their warm-up jerseys inside out (including during the national anthem) to protest owner Donald Sterling’s racist comments?

Is this a joke? Are you serious?

Yes, I see that seven nonviolent protestors were arrested for obstructing the parade route. Fortunately the NYPD was capable of handling this, but I’m sure lots of overtime was required to deal with this grave threat.

Is it a joke that Ferguson was burned and looted? Yeah, these people are quite capable of disrupting a televised football game in St Louis. They’d love nothing better than for the entire nation to see their protest. This has gone way beyond just the locals. Agitators from all over the country are involved. Very few of the recent arrests were locals. They were people that traveled just to riot and destroy property.

Thankfully the salute to the military month is over, and breast cancer awareness month is in the distance past.

No, they don’t. It’s perfectly acceptable for a player to pray after a touchdown as long as it’s not coordinated with other players. There was never any rule in the NFL restricting his ability to do so. And he mostly did it before the game anyway. Besides, players from opposing teams regular gather after the game for a prayer circle on the field. The NCAA did make a rule about writing slogans on your eye black during Tebow’s time in college, and he did write biblical slogans in his eye black while at school. But the rule never affected him since he’d already graduated.

So, to sum up, you’re wrong.

Do you have any idea how thoroughly nonsensical this is? If it were planned, it wouldn’t require anyone to incite it. By your own admission, what the players did wouldn’t have incited something that wasn’t planned. So the players are completely irrelevant to this bizarre fantasy of yours.
