As to me giving it a rest? Ok, sure. It has been revealed that I am in fact the sole person who has a problem with this. Therefore I will drop the subject and no longer complain about Ramanujan’s user name. As some of you have observed, the OP was rather mild and didn’t actually express any extreme displeasure in the matter.
As the others of you have observed, I am an EVIL VILLAIN for daring to make a complaint and must thus be made the object of much derision, blowing the thread out of all proportion. Thank you for you contributions. Especially those of you who made the really really funny joke of saying “Y’know… I’m not actually X”, just 'cause you wanted to recycle a joke from the Coldfire thread which wasn’t in fact relevant to my complaint.

Stilicho (Estilicón) was a famous Roman General. If you check right next to location you will notice that I am from Argentina wich, despite the fancy latin name, is in south america. And I am not even a general, in fact I am not a big fan of war (monty alarm).

Right. At this point I’m experiencing a huge temptation to lose my temper, start ranting at the lot of you, etc. etc. Thing is, this would achieve absolutely nothing except to make me not feel any better. So, lets pretend I’ve already done that, you’ve all had your laugh at me for it and enjoyed the feelings of vindication it’s given you and, through some miracle, no Mod has closed this thread on the grounds of it being too stupid to live.
Now, lets try to deal with this rationally. To start with, knock it off with the “I’m not really an X” or “I am really an X” jokes. It wasn’t funny back when it was beaten to death in the “Fire isn’t really cold!!” thread, and it’s neither funny nor relevant here. As you would undoubtedly realised if you’d actually read my OP, nowhere did I say that he was claiming to be the real Ramanujan (if so I would have asked for the number of his necromancer - you never know when you might need to raise a couple corpses for your Legion of Doom).
Of the two groups in this thread - me and everyone else - it seems obvious that one group is massively missing the other’s point. Obviously from my perspective it doesn’t look like that group is me but, on the grounds of being massively outnumbered, I shall assume for the moment that it is in fact.
So, rather than simply telling me that I’m an idiot and should be ashamed of myself for posting such a stupid OP, why don’t you actually explain yourselves? I’ll grant that the OP was perhaps a little petty and trivial (and we’ll assume that you’ve already made the obvious sarcastic response, so you don’t need to waste precious seconds of your lives actually doing so), but it was also extremely mild. I didn’t rant, I didn’t insult his parentage, I merely made the observation that something about him was mildly irritating. I didn’t tell him “You must change your name you evil bastard. How dare you name yourself after Ramanujan”, I suggested “Would you consider changing your name?”. It may not be the epitome of politeness, but nor is it actively offensive.
So, exactly what about this is it that requires this huge outpouring of derision? I mean sure, a lot of it can be accounted for by people thinking “Hey, I have a chance to make exactly the same joke as everyone else and thus validate my feelings of self worth”, but not all of it less than 1/3 in fact). Ok, so you think that my OP is trivial and pointless. But you’re making a far bigger deal of it than I ever did about Ramanujan’s choice of name, so aren’t you really engaging in the activity which you’re reproaching me for?
