A gorilla got loose in the Dallas Zoo and attacked a number of people. The gorilla was eventually killed. The settlement capped at $500,000 was divided up among the victums. It only took over 5 years to come to a settlement. It’s ridiculous that it took so long.
That’s old news… what 5 years ago? And it was the PD that shot the gorilla, not the National Guard.
There were a bunch of articles about it in the paper- the usual calls for super-secure enclosures, and “why didn’t we use tranquilizer darts?” questions.
(which the obvious answer is that if a gorilla has run amok in the zoo and is biting people’s heads, it’s time to put him down, endangered species or not)

The article the OP linked to is from today. The settlement is the recent part.
I said “It only took over 5 years to come to a settlement.” Obviously the event was over 5 years ago.
