Rams & Eagles game penalty: Something about imitating cadence. Whaaa?

I’m watching the Rams & Eagles game right now, rooting my brains out for my team, St. Louis.

The game is in the 4th quarter and Madden & Michaels are blabbing away about unrelated nonsense when the Rams get socked with a 15 yard penalty. I’m trying to hear what it’s all about, but the blabbing is unending.

All I manage to hear from the on-field ref is something about “imitating cadence.” I’ve never heard of such an infraction. What gives?

I don’t know it this is it or not, but I recall seeing a penalty a couple of years ago – a defensive lineman was imitating the snap utterances of the quarterback.

aahala is correct. It was an “Unsportsmanlike Conduct” penalty - someone on the defense was imitating the QB’s snap count.
