I have some entertainment-related questions that have been running through my head that I’m dying to find opinions on from such a stellar group as this:
Which is better:
Pre-Crisis DC Universe OR Post-Crisis DC Universe? (This is the question that inspired this post, partly due to the interesting replies on the Superman thread.)
The old, completely nutty Daffy Duck OR the modern, greedy and arrogant Daffy Duck?
Comic book crossovers in which each party inhabits the same plane of existence (old Marvel/DC crossovers, most crossovers in which one of the participants is NOT Marvel or DC) OR crossovers that assume each party is from a different space-time continuum?
Introducing animated series characters into the comic books on which they are based (Harley Quinn, Mercy): Yea or Nay?
Have you ever seen the show Fear on MTV? Whaddya think?
Which, generally, has more actual singing talent: boy bands, or the blonde female solo artists (Britney, Christina, Mandy, etc.)?
Esoteric, yes, but so am I. Hopefully, SOME sorta interesting discussion will come out of this…
In general I’d have to say post crisis. The DC Universe had a lot of crap that accumulated over the years, readership was very low, and it was time to clean house.

The greedy and arrogant one was a lot more fun.

I’ve yet to find one that was any good. How many times can we see the Predator or the Aliens fight someone from a comic book? I have one of the Daredevil/Batman team ups and that wasn’t all to hot either. The worst was a few years ago when readers voted on which DC or Marvel character would win in a fight. Lobo vs. Wolvering ended up with Wolverine winning. I don’t think so, Lobo is on such a higher level of power the Wolvie stands no chance. On the other hand Wonder Woman beat Storm. Of course Wonder Woman is tough and could take out all the X-Man except maybe Charles and Rouge.

I don’t think you’ll find many examples of this happening. Harley was a good character in the comics and a decent addition to the comics. I’m not to keen on her having her own comic series and I doubt it’ll last.

Probably the solo artist. Simply because they don’t have band members to carry them.

I find myself qualified to answer only one of these questions…
**** The old, completely nutty Daffy Duck OR the modern, greedy and arrogant Daffy Duck? ***
I like the modern Daffy best Who could forget “I’m rich! I’m rich! I’m fabulously wealthy! I’m comfortably well-off” The Aladin’s cave episode with Bugs and Daffy is one of the most memorable, IMHO. Wacky Daffy was cool, but annoying. Greedy Daffy was pure comic gold.
As for the other questions… well, I don’t have an answer, but I wish to comment on…
**** Which, generally, has more actual singing talent: boy bands, or the blonde female solo artists (Britney, Christina, Mandy, etc.)? ***
Until science comes up with an accurate way to measure such minute qantities of “talent”, the answer to this question may never be known. Does anyone else wish Christina Aguilera had never been born?

Probably the greedy and arrogant one.

No. It stinks, no doubt.

Well, in terms of “talent” as related to Mammary Glands in Motion During a Song (MGMDS), the Blonde Female Solo Artists (Hereafter BFSA, which sounds a hell of a lot like an industrial conglomerate) tend to score much higher in terms of raw talent. Even higher after artificial improvements are counted into the equation.
In terms of Vocal Talent (VT), the author must admit that he has not studiously researched this area. His fear of brain damage is greater than his zest for knowledge, at least in this category.
It should also be noted that the author has no interest in Justin Timbermill’s chest. Or any other parts of him, or any of the other boy band people.
