Random juxtapositions

There’s a small musical venue here in Philly, the Keswick, where I have seen some excellent music (this year: Bela Fleck and Zakir Hussain; Jorma Kaukonen and David Bromberg – in the past: Derek Trucks [aka my husband], BB King, John McLaughlin), so naturally I’m on their email list.

They also have some fairly bizarre shit.

Today’s email announces two upcoming concerts: Dweezil Zappa (“Dweezil Zappa & The Zappa Family Trust Present the Music of Frank Zappa - in honor & celebration of FZ’s 70th B-Day, the works in sequence from the classic album APOSTROPHE(’) in its unmitigated entirety – performing with unreleased video footage!”) and Connie Francis.

The only thing that would be better is if they were performing together.

I once saw Procol Harem open for Foghat.

Right before he died, Zappa had been doing some sessions with Paddy Maloney and The Chieftains with the possibility of releasing an album together. I would have given my left nut to have seen that realized.
