It doesn’t matter any more than any other sporting event. But what a sporting event!
Didn’t like him. His jigging around seemed way over the top (pun not intended) long before the whole thing with the medal share. He’s a good-looking guy, so can engage in those antics and lots of people will find it “cute”, but I’m straight enough and British enough to just find it annoying. 
He just kind of fit the emotional Italian stereotypes I thought, down to the vaguely bad hair. And at least when he and Barshim agreed to share the gold medal, that was genuine emotion which is always endearing to me.
Pretty sure this is the third time they are airing USA v Italy in Woman’s Volleyball. Ain’t there something else they can show??? I mean, they are playing a butt-load of sports over there, ya know?
Another water polo thought; I’d much prefer to watch athletes in a pool playing Marco Polo, but maybe that’s just me.
Damn, Rai Benjamin is breaking my heart. He ran the best race of his life, and shattered the WR in the 400 meter hurdles by a full second and still lost. While I always want the losers to be gracious, I don’t blame him for being upset. However, the truth is that he ran fast but the other guy ran faster.
I was mildly irked the other day when I found that the Olympic segments I recorded had three showings of the Brazil vs USA women’s beach volleyball. And of course, the first one I watched showed the only the last set, the second one showed the second and third sets, and the last one showed all three sets.
I just watched (a replay) of Biles competing on the balance beam. I pit all of the motherfuckers who dared to criticize her. Fuck of all of you fucking fuckers. That woman is a champion, and she always will be a champion.
This is the first time in forever that I have absolutely not given a fuck about the Olympics, and for all the reasons you mention above. So tired of the homer coverage by NBC. It doesn’t kill me if someone from another country beats an American for a gold medal, but it apparently breaks NBC.
I think the other factor is that, as someone who lived in Japan and knows people live there now, it’s just fucked up how these games were shoved down the people’s throat during a time of a national emergency. These games should have been canceled.
Right now, there is the same Woman’s Volleyball game on two different channels!

I get the Olympic Channel, which shows a lot of Olympic-type events; biathlon, track-and-field, curling (hooray), etc. They must be owned by NBC because they’ve been part of the Olympics coverage for the last week. The odd thing is, for a channel that’s usually such a grab bag of events, they’ve been nothing but tennis during the Olympics. A few days ago, I checked NBCSN to see what they were showing, and it was a tennis match. I thought’ well, maybe there’s something better on Olympic Channel". Nope, they were showing the same match, but offset by a few games.
One of my favorite things about the Olympics is the chance to see sports that I usually can’t. It drives me nuts when the coverage focuses so much on tennis, golf, and especially basketball. What, fans of those sports didn’t get their fill in the last four years?
It always makes me smirk to see people plastered with kinesiology tape . Something derived from a scam and with another scam included in the name, how can it fail.?
It may well provide a placebo effect (and athletes are notoriously superstitious) and it is available in pretty colours so there’s that, but any real-world and empirical benefit? The jury is out (and by “out” I mean out of the back of the building with a coffee and a fag and giving it no serious thought at all)

Over on TikTok, someone posted a clip of the U.S. Women’s Football (or soccer to us Yanks) losing, and a truckload of comments from Real Muricans about how they are glad the U.S. team lost because some of them dared to kneel during the National Anthem. They reserved some of their truly egregious remarks for one player, refering to same as “that purple-headed thing”.
