All life is born from chaos and destruction.
KIRK: So you’re the terrible thing, the murdering monster. The creature.
LAZARUS B: Yes, Captain.
Or he is.
It depends on your point of view, doesn’t it?
Captain, I see no reason to stand here and be insulted.
Why didn’t you tell me that’s what you were planning?
Because, doctor, when you become a commander, they take the bone out of your head that makes you explain orders.
Ain’t nothin’ to it.
I’m just an old country doctor.
Yeah, well, about that - don’t give up your day job.
Employees are the rungs on the ladder to success. Don’t hesitate to step on them.
You got that straight, Slim. Too real is too right.
Doctor, in your opinion, what killed Mister Chekov?
A piece of lead in his body.
Wrong. His mind killed him.
Come on, Spock. If you’ve got the answer, tell us.
Physical reality is consistent with universal laws. Where the laws do not operate, there is no reality.
All of this is unreal.
What do you mean unreal? I examined Chekov. He’s dead.
But you made your examination under conditions which we cannot trust. We judge reality by the response of our senses. Once we are convinced of the reality of a given situation, we abide by its rules. We judged the bullets to be solid, the guns to be real, therefore they can kill.
Since before your sun burned hot in space and before your race was born, I have awaited a question.
Pay attention to me.
If Mr. Spock says that he needs the tools and that they’ll be returned tomorrow morning, you can bet your reputation on that, Miss Keeler.
I don’t believe in the no-win scenario.
Stonn, she is yours. After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true.
I have little to say about it, Captain, except that for the first time in my life I was happy.
The more complex the mind, the greater the need for the simplicity of play.
Bonk bonk on the head!
I have a vague reecollection (but can not find it) that in one episode Kirk, McCoy and Spock find someone (probably a red shirt) on the ground and clearly dead. Kirk asks McCoy what he thinks and, without examining anything and just standing there McCoy says something like, “Well, in my professional opinion, that man’s dead.”
Dr. McCoy: But Sybo said that it feeds on death.
Mr. Spock: In the strict scientific sense, Doctor, we all feed on death, even vegetarians.
