Anyone else watching this? I liked the sendup of the Michael Jackson interview. William Shatner really needs to lose the rug. James Doohan didn’t sound well at all and walks like Tim Conway’s old man character. I have a feeling Scotty won’t be with us much longer.
WTF? H.R. PufnStuff pulled over by Ponch & Jon? That has got to be the most surreal thing I’ve ever seen on TV! Yes, that was a real clip from CHiPs; IMDb says it orignally aired on 10 November 1977.
What was the deal with Lee Majors? and Don Adams?
Bea Arthur and Don Knotts also looked like death warmed over.
Conrad bain, on the other hand looked outstanding.
I watched the rerun Saturday night; was this heavily edited? I noticed James Doohan’s Thank you seemed truncated.
And what happened to the rest of the retromercials? they went right from the frist commercial to suddenly bringing Reba Mcintyre onstage to present an award.

The dancin’ girls in the hilarious opening number were hot! Hot! HOT!
Those outfits…on those bodies…
[homer]aaaauuuugggghhh…[/homer]
Evidently David Cassidy actually said what I was thinking, only it didn’t make to air: “Has anyone noticed that all the people who are losing are dead?”
Bea Arthur looks canceriffic.
They had a great commercial campaign too. Gilligans vs. Eddies vs. Ed Nortons.
I would like to see them draw out that idea. Make it into a Faux-Reality show.
The “tribute” to the fictional designer who made Lucy’s burlap-sack dress went on way too long. It seemed only like an excuse to have women dress up in burlap sacks and Bruch Vilance, the show’s writer, to make a cameo.
It would be very difficult to edit this, since it was pre-recorded on March 2. The 90-minute program is what most people saw. I saw the original broadcast, I remember Doohan didn’t say much.
The Michael Jackson parody was funny (Though I was surprised there wasn’t a “Whatchutalkinbout?”), and other attempts at humor were well done (like pointing out that Star Trek was the show with not only the first interracial kiss, but also the first time an actor was forced to repeatedly slap himself!).
I also found Pufnstuf’s CHiPs cameo hilarious (Apparently, the Kroffts liked Eric Estrada, so that’s how that came about).
I don’t care if he’s a character in an old commercial. Mr. Whipple needs to get a life. I mean, he’s obsessed with Charmin, for cryin’ out loud!
Who knew the Dick Van Dyke theme had lyrics?
Vicki Lawrence was hilarious as Mama. Did anyone else think Mary Tyler Moore looked terrible? Does she have Parkinson’s? She seemed to shake, looked confused, her arms looked like hell and so did her legs.
I think the trauma of causing a conception at age 80 was a little too much for him.
No kidding! I haven’t seen that many camel toes since Lawrence of Arabia.
I was very sad to see that. While Scotty may not have big as big a role model as some other people, I know as a techy, that in the back of my mind has always been the image of Scotty managing to somehow “Make it work”. That’s pretty much how I viewed my technical work in the Navy. “Don’t care how, just make the stupid thing work while we’re deployed”. I don’t know if he’s ever been recognized, but he really should get some type of honorary degree from someplace for his inspiration of technical people.
From the IMDb:
I turned on the pre-show just long enough to see that Martin Mull and Kathy Najimy are the world’s worst interviewers. They make Joan Rivers look like Edward R. Murrow.
