4 months ago I stepped on a nail that went in a good inch. Evidently it nicked a bone. My doctor has been kinda dismissive of it (just rub the area every morning before getting out bed). Well, it ain’t working. The area still hurts like hell everyday. Right now it feels like a burning pain.
3 years ago I got my dirtbike stuck in mud and lowered my goggles while unsticking it (they kept fogging up). I got the bike unstuck and tried riding it onto a dry spot before putting my goggles back on. I somehow brilliantly managed to get a branch right into my eye. THAT was almost the most painful thing ever. To this day the eye will hurt when it’s really dry out (it has also made it impossible to wear contact lenses). Today it hurts like hell and I don’t have any rewetting drops.
Get a second opinion, and a third, if the pain in your foot doesn’t go away. My MIL had bad pain in the bone after an injury to her finger (deep cut and nicked bone during a manicure) as well as a hard swelling under the injury site. Her doctors pooh-poohed her for nearly a year as there were no signs of infection etc; finally she found someone willing to do exploratory surgery, and it was found that she had a deep-seated fungal bone infection. She could have been saved 10 months of pain and limited use of her hand. I could rant about this all day because I was convinced there was something very wrong the whole time. Anyway osteomyelitis is hardly uncommon after that type of injury (dirty foreign object penetrating bone) and I don’t think that level of pain after a minor injury that’s fully healed on the surface is normal at all.
