Sorry, but when I flew to London, they asked the same information. This was only 2 wks post-911.

I have no idea who the OP is, but as a foreigner who’s visited the US frequently I agree with the sentiment. The US has made much more difficult for legitimate visitors to want to go to the US while seemingly doing little to discourate possible terrorists. As a matter of fact I avoid layovers and transits in the US like the bubonic plague.

I was in Madrid a year before and shortly after the terrorist attacks, I was surprised to see that the procedures had not changed (at least not that I noticed), which led me to believe that maybe they were doing their job without fanfarre and in the background. Or maybe they were doing what they had, and should have always done.
