And we’re doing OK, thanks. Hanging in there. He has better days and worse days, as far as adjusting mentally/emotionally, but he seems physically to be doing OK.
What part of “I can’t stress enough how important this is” do some people not fucking understand?! Every goddamn week I send an e-mail asking them to tell me when they’ve done an inspection that will generate a report. I need to know this so I can keep my spreadsheets updated and so I know what work will be coming at me. Every goddamn week I get a number of “surprises” dumped on my desk that were inspected weeks or even months ago. How fucking hard is it to send an e-mail? These people are university educated. I’m a high school dropout who didn’t go back to school until I was 25. These people make twice my salary. My husband says they’re doing it on purpose just to piss me off - to see when quiet little Juicy will snap. I’m beginning to think he’s right.
This is my job - this is what I do - I organize things. I love my job. For the most part I love my co-workers. But FFS we’ve been doing this for TEN YEARS. They should know by now what I need in order to keep things running smoothly. Especially when I tell them EVERY FUCKING WEEK.
I really do love my job itself. I just hate spending 8 hours a day simmering in frustrated anger.
My Jewish daughter went to school today and yesterday even though it is Passover. Meanwhile she has off Friday because Friday is Good Friday. Fuck you, local school district officials. It is utterly disgusting to turn our public schools into a place where Jews have to choose between getting an education and observing a religious holiday while Christians do not.

Almost daily notices going out to people that the way they access certain production data will go away at the end of this month and they’ll have to use a slightly different means of doing it. The “new” method was actually put in place over two years ago and is the standard. The “old” means was slated to be phased out then, but no one got around to it until now.
So let’s see, who is still using this old method after months of high priority BIG RED LETTER warnings that it will completely stop working next Sunday?

I swear, every jackass who says “no one told me” is going to get an earful of “You mean no one told you to read the emails you’ve gotten a minimum of once a week for the last six months? No one told you to read high priority emails with ALERT and WARNING and FINAL NOTICE in the title? Is this what you’re claiming? That you are unable to use the most basic form of corporate communications as part of your job?”

Oh yeah, spent a while on the phone yesterday with a guy claiming that no one had told him, it was a complete surprise :rolleyes: and there’s just no way he’s going to be able to get all his production jobs recoded by next Monday. Seemed a bit :eek: when I didn’t even nibble at his obvious clues that he needed an extension and just kept repeating that notices have been sent out a minimum of weekly for the last several months and it is going to happen, period, so whatever he needs to do to fix his jobs, he needs to get done.
There is exactly zero chance that this will be delayed for any reason, and those decisions are not made anywhere near my paygrade. So fix yer shit, bitches! because demands to back out the change next week aren’t going anywhere. Certainly not with us, since we have fuck-all to say about it (the notices aren’t even from us, they’re from a different chain of management, and only tell you to call us with questions*).
If anything, you should be more worried about angry calls to your management from your user base, wondering why you didn’t get the work done by the deadline.
That’s the thing about this place. We are often pointed at as the takers of questions when our notice of this fact for a specific issue is the email that tells people to call us, and we know exactly nothing more than what the email says in the first place.
I don’t think they’re doing it on purpose; I think they simply don’t care. If it doesn’t affect them, it just affects you and makes your job difficult, they don’t care.

Remember when I bitched about the left lane campers? I discovered something worse today - people who jam the fast lane on purpose. The guy who was jamming us today was driving below the speed limit at times - whatever it took to keep people from passing in the fast lane. There is something seriously wrong with some people, and unfortunately they are driving in the same place as me some days.
Nobody cares until it inconveniences them personally. Back when I first started trying to get people to give me permission to destroy their boxes, nobody cared. When I started responding to their complaints about boxes in their offices, I would tell them that I was sorry, but there was no room because I was having problems getting permission to destroy boxes to make room.
They couldn’t get the signatures to me fast enough after that.
I believe it. I used to work for a CVS years ago, and I remember a couple times the piped-in muzak had some Christmas songs mixed in. In the middle of the summer. And boy did the customers howl about it.
Back then, a lot of the store’s functions were controlled by a central computer at the corporate office in Rhode Island. Stuff like when the lights came on, what temperature the AC was set at, what music was playing. The individual stores had no control over it.
We were having a problem with the parking lot lights not coming on at night, but instead coming on in the middle of the day. Boss asked me to call corporate and report it. The person I got on the phone was insisting that the central computer said the parking lights were turned off. I said, “Ma’am, I am looking at the lights right now. They are on. Who are you going to believe, me or the computer?” She stammered something about having to check the computer and ended the call.
I don’t know if the stores are still run that way, but that damn central computer was a source of endless frustration for us.
I hate the junk Verizon decided has to be on my phone. I don’t facebook, no the app can’t update and take up more of my memory, neither can the NFL app. why can’t I delete you. I don’t want you here. I ignore you as much as possible, but the OS update yesterday make you whine to be updated twice. It’s my phone, why can’t I delete this shit. I would sent a bill for storage but there is no one to send it to. I would complain about google screwing with my alarm app, but don’t know who to complain to. I am just angry and stressed in general, and probably should cut down on the caffeine. Argg.

And so said neighbor just unfriended me on Facebook because I dared suggest that it was unfair of the school district to force my Jewish kid to go to school on Passover while giving them off Good Friday and all of next week.
She accused me of bashing Christianity, not being fair to people who have kids in junior high school and don’t have off the same holidays and unfairly maligning the school. Evidently we Jews should shut up and be grateful that we get off any off Jewish holidays at all as Christians don’t get off Holy Thursday or Ash Wednesday. Because giving kids off Yom Kippur is enough of a sop to the Jews and they should just ignore their constitutional rights and STFU and not bother good Christians like her.
Ugh. I want to throw up that I live near people who think like that.
