Rantings about stupid nuclear reporting, and I want to bitchslap somebody, also other crap

Well, just because nuclear waste blew up, that doesn’t mean there was any fission, fusion, or other nuclear reaction involved.

But hey fuck, the media just loves printing “nuclear explosion”.

Muche better reporting here.

I’m really fucking glad now I did not ractivate an old thread here -
The environmental movement, and its irrational fear of nuclear energy

No doubt at all the Mods would have said sumtin like, “Hey, don’t bring some old thread back from the dead man, it’s scaring the customers” and the nuclears would have gone rathsit crazy, seeing their old specious arguments going up in flames and shit like that.

And considering the clusterfuck multiple meltdowns here concerning Global Warming or science denial or something, I’m really glad I didn’t start on the myth of global fuck warming we are all going to fucking die or something.
The idiot fuckheads who were actually clueless enough to publish something pronuclear during the early days of the disaster really did make me want to bitchslap them. But now that they have shut the hell up it’s all good man.

Before you get upset, just consider that I posted this instead of STARTING yet another fucking topic just to vent.

Before the explosion at Marcoule the French radiation monitoring site updated their radiation monitoring stations every four hours. Nothing has been updated now for the last 48 (since the explosion)

I’m not the only one who finds this odd in the extreme.

I remain pro-nuclear.

We know. Remember? There was no scenario, no possible disaster, no matter how big, that would get you to change.

The cover building over reactor one is almost finished, and you can see the cranes working on building three now.

English translation of Tepco video explaining and showing the pumps and emergency backups on site. 3:22 has an interesting comment about recriticality.

Not that anyone here would care, but still.

Ah, you’re so in love with being wrong… you and wrong should get married.

Internet dickbags, long on insults, lacking in science logic and reason.

This is the essential and fucked reality of nuclear reactors. The 150 tons a year of “waste” fuel rods have to be kept under a shit ton of water, right next to the reactor, because it’s impossible to move them, to store them any other way, just flat out impossible.

You can’t take them out of water, or they burst into flames, melt and you got a serious fucking problem just like that.

Deadly serious. Like how the threat of flooding was looming over the Nebraska reactors this year. Even if they knew a dam was going, that for sure disaster was coming to the power plants, there simply isn’t anything to do about it.

They can’t move the spent fuel rods, much less the reactor core. It’s impossible. So, even if at Fukushima they knew a tsunami was coming, there isn’t any way to remove the fuel from the area, even if you had years to do it.

This is an essential threat from every reactor. There is no solution to a threat.

Since Fukushima it came out that another power plant had a fuel rod accident 17 years ago. Just a small fuel rod accident. Yet they still don’t know how to fix it.

Even if they could move the melted fuel, there is no where to move it to.

Whoops, after a long period of time you can of course very carefully put spent fuel rods into dry storage. But you need to keep them with air cooling, and guarded all the time.

But the fresh shit, that has to stay under water.

Here’s an image of one of my cats (which I composed in joking response to a long-ago thread about censorship in China, thus I partly credit the SDMB).
It has a comparable amount of factual relevance to nuclear power as FXM’s posts in this thread.

Top experts, scientists, nuclear physicists, as well as policy makers and the NRC all have agreed that the spent fuel problem is real, needs to be solved, and poses potential danger.

Internet dickbags will still try and deny this scientific fact. That they consider themselves above scientific truth, and reality itself, it tends to make me mock them.

This video is funny and of comparable relevance to the nuclear issue.

Dammit, Bryan, the thread will get closed if you stop posting on it and let FX wank by himself for a week.

Dream on.

TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident due to the region might be subject to decontamination of radioactive materials is known expert estimates that spans about 2,000 square kilometers to one-seventh of the overall maximum Fukushima other. Calculate the volume of soil decontamination is equivalent to 1 billion cubic meters up to 80 cups of Tokyo. Can affect the size of the interim storage facility and construction costs, future government, under pressure likely due to a significant reduction in filter area and decontamination technologies.

Yuichi Moriguchi, Tokyo University Professor (Environmental Engineering) is estimated. Moriguchi is a professor, opened the first meeting by experts in the Ministry 14 days to put together a standard decontamination procedures, such as incorporating the concept of decontamination and “environmental restoration study committee” members.

According to Professor Moriguchi, additional year of exposure (exposure) as a measure to reduce the dose below 1 mSv, and the distribution of more than 1 micro Sievert per hour, extracted from the map of the measured air dose in late June. Amounted to about 2,000 square meters including 1100 square kilometers of area and planned evacuation warning area. In its entirety, and rip up to 5 inches deep and can be virtually eliminated cesium, the volume is 100 million cubic meters.

Low-level radioactive waste burial center is a metal, such as final disposal of used work clothing and occur in the primary site (Rokkasho-mura, Aomori prefecture) to build an interim storage facility and assume the same structure, the construction of the center Because the cost of 1,600 billion cubic meters to 200,000 minutes, this estimate construction costs as it would be Atehamere 80 trillion yen to about 500 times

Bottom line, 80 trillion yen is a lot of fucking money. And there is a lot of contaminated Japanese soil.

No wonder they shut down most of their reactors. It’s not worth the risk.

I figured for some reason the moderators had made a conscious decision to let FXM have his pseudoblog in this thread, so it didn’t make any difference whether I posted or not.

Meantime, I’ll continue scouting around for amusing cat pictures and videos and bring them to the attention of the readership as necessary.

The fact that all real time readings from nuclear monitoring stations in France stopped after the explosion is getting even the nuclear cheerleaders interested.

Seems Marcoule is a lot more than just some low level waste plant. The lack of data, especially after Fukushima, is a real bad move on the French authorities part.

(just translate it if you can’t read French)

Something is fishy, and it ain’t the French girls undies.

Awww…
