Rare example of meteorological humor sighted

Tropical storm Beta formed in the Gulf of Mexico today, and Forecaster Beven’s official National Hurricane Center “400 PM CDT Fri Sep 18 2020” storm discussion, reviewing the effect of a “mid-level ridge building to the north of the cyclone”, went out of its way to insert the gem that “This ridge should act as a Beta blocker…”

Tropical Storm BETA?

NOTE: I have requested this be moved to MPSIMS

I laughed. My wife laughed. And my medicine cabinet broke out into cheers.

These days I’m happy to find humor in anything - thanks for posting.

I sometimes read the “forecast discussion” link on NOAA for my area (example), and very occasionally there will be a side-wise joke/reference similar to the OP regarding some weather phenomena.

Some of the forecasters here in the Chicago NWS office do some similarly-amusing writing in their forecast discussions, which always makes me smile.
