Free Enterprise was a hell of a lot funnier than Trekkies, which was actually just kinda sad.
THANK YOU! I’ve been trying to remember which movie that was for months. Netflix, here I come.
- The Undiscovered Country
- The Voyage Home
- The Wrath of Khan
- First Contact
- Nemesis
- The Search for Spock
- Insurrection
- The Final Frontier
- Generations
- The Motion Picture
Also… Galaxy Quest is no more a Trek movie than Space Balls is a Star Wars movie. It’s a great spoof and I like it more than The Final Frontier, Generations, and The Motion Picture but it’s not a part of the franchise.
Yeah, but Galaxy Quest is better than Star Trek, even on Star Trek’s own level.
better than some Star Trek
I said as much in my post by saying I liked it better than three of the movies in the franchise… what was the point in your reiteration? Aside from that, it being better than half or even all of the franchise still doesn’t make it a part of the series.
It’s a humorous spoof. That’s it.
All I meant was , usually spoof is good on a different level than the movie/s it is based. Galaxy Quest would actually be a better Star Trek movie than a lot of the series.
Oops–I misunderstood the OP and rated them each on a 1-to-10 scale. So here’s how I would rank them:
The Motion Picture-4
The Wrath of Khan-2
Search for Spock-3
Voyage Home-1
Final Frontier-10
Undiscovered Country-6
Generations-7
First Contact-8
Insurrection-5
Nemesis-9
sigh … everybody always under-rates Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
Sure, it’s not an action-packed edge-of-your-seat thrill ride. It’s not supposed to be. It’s a stately, majestic, awe-filled voyage of discovery, like 2001: A Space Odyssey except with original music.
Though the line about the Enterprise being “the only ship in the vicinity” even though it was docked in Earth orbit sure made me groan. (They pulled that same stunt again in ST:Generations, and it was just as hard to swallow the second time.)
Well, I saw Nemesis on the weekend. Other than the final battle scene, it was incredibly boring. I was quite dissapointed. It’d rate just above ST:5, but barely.
Well, of course. Nemesis could never hope to match the grandeur of Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
- my all-time favorite and the most quotable: Wrath of Khan
- First Contact
- Voyage home
- Search for Spock
- Undiscovered country
- Nemesis (I liked this much more the second time around)
- Generations
- the Motion Picture
- Insurrection
- final frontier
1 Kahn
2 Home
3 Country
4 Spock
5 First Contact
6 Generations
7 STTMP
8 Nemesis
9 Insurrection
10 Final Frontier
Anything after the first 3 are crap, though.
