Cats 100, or at least 99.99. Crazy over them. Crazy over most animals, but especially cats.

Dogs? Hmm. I used to be afraid of them, then I simply disliked them, now I think they’re okay. Dogs fall generically under the aformentions “crazy over most animals” category. Like, if I were visiting someone’s house and they had a dog, I’d end up spending a good deal of time with the dog, maybe even more than the person. But I’d be the same with a hamster, a ferret, a lizard- if there’s a tank of fish on the premises, I’ll probably find myself watching the fish. I’m just like that.
Eh, I don’t think I’d put any non-parasitic animal in the negatives. Dogs are maybe 5-10.

I like and enjoy the company of most animals. I currently have a cat - if I wasn’t renting and also had a bigger yard I’d like to have a (carefully selected) dog too.

The slight preference for cats is because I find them easier to live my everyday life around (like I can go out in the evening after work without going home first and I won’t come home to a pet that is lonely and over-energetic because I didn’t get time to exercise it that day) and because even though she likes to play with me she can also entertain herself.

Also because some dogs are just an (admittedly cute) energy explosion that I just can’t deal with all the time. I like to go for walks and stuff but when I see the sheer amount of exuberance and energy some of the dogs that my friends have exhibit all the time I know I wouldn’t be able to handle the lifestyle they would need me to have, I don’t want to have to devote half my day to keeping my pet from going insane. I don’t much care for lap dogs though, so I guess I will have to find some happy middle ground when I finally get one.

My views have changed over the years. Used to love dogs and be indifferent to cats. Now I resent dogs, they are a lot more responsibility in a life too full of responsibilities. If they didn’t give my wife some feeling of security when I travel, I’d be done with them completely. Cats, on the other hand, have moved up a bit. They’re kind, and independent.

There are dogs, both breeds and individuals, that I can’t stand and would gladly feed to a T. Rex. But all cats are holy.

Dogs lose ten points because of other people’s dogs. Otherwise, they’re one of the very few things that make life worth living. Dogs are awesome.

I’m allergic to cats, but even if I wasn’t… fucking cats; they suck. Nothing about them jibes with what I value and my outlook on things. I have a few “cat people” friends too, but I must ignore that to be friends with them - much like I would ignore a goiter.

I like cats, and I like dogs. Dogs lose points because they smell. I know there are people who think cats smell, and in fact, if there are more than three cats in a household, I agree. I have two cats, and they smell good.

I like dogs, and I have one. My dog smells like a dog, though. Even though I love him, I always notice that he smells like a dog. Sometimes more than others. If I let him take a nap with me then I, too, smell like a dog, and I particularly notice that.

Dogs- 100. I love most dogs unless they bite without provocation. Like the Lhasa Apso that tore a 4 inch gash in my left calf because he wanted out of his run and I was in the way. That dog gets a -100.

Other people’s cats get a 75 because some cats are just schitzoid jerks. The rest range from meh to adorable. My cats, of course, get 100. Especially Kitty Claire who rules our house with her tabbi-ness.

This has got to be the most confusing poll ever.

Dogs- 95. I love MOST dogs but there are certain breeds I don’t care for.

Cats- 90. Friendly cats that come to say hello, love 'em. Cats that are aloof… meh.

Our dog: 50. You’re okay as long as you don’t destroy stuff. Heck, I even kinda like you actually. You do REEK, however. Stay in your “dog area” or else! Also, learn more tricks.

Our cats: 0. Better keep catchin’ mice and shit or you will outlive your usefullness. Then, see below.

All others: -1000 Lead thearapy awaits. Just compromise the fence-line.

Cats: 95. Not perfect, but close. I find that cats have unique personalities, that they are little trouble to care for, and all the cats I’ve owned have been good companions. Still, even mine do occasionally bug me–so, not a perfect score.

Dogs: 65. I have no dogs, but most I’ve met, I’ve liked. Small dogs are a lot of fun. Still, I don’t like it when a strange big dog runs at me–I don’t know if it’s being playful or on the attack.

Cats are low maintenance self cleaning pets that don’t make noise beyond a pleasant purring sound. Dogs are almost universally the barking assholes of the neighborhood that on their best day want to roll in shit or lick their ass just prior to licking you in the face or painting your arm with dog snot until you pet their crap-rolled fur. Dogs need to be walked and let outdoors every day and bathed regularly. Cats need their ears scriched 10 minutes of the day and all their exercise can be done with a LASER pointer or a ping pong ball.

So cats 100, dogs 5.

Well, in case of dogs, it’s the whole frigging streets that are their litter box

Dogs - 70. I love dogs, though I fear I can never get one, due to allergy. :frowning: Chihuahuas and similar dog-like creatures are ridiculous though, and I would not want one.
Cats -30. Cats are just boring.

You can buy a litter box that cleans itself versus a yard full of landmines. More than once I’ve tracked a dog turd all through the house before realizing it and had to spend hrs scrubbing the floor.

Cats: 95. I’ve only met a couple that I couldn’t stand to be around.
Dogs: 90. I’ve known more dogs that I didn’t really like.

Dogs can be aggressive, snarly and bitey. Even ones that have good owners and lots of attention paid to them. They get overprotective and turn against you.

Cats, when they’re aggressive, can easily change their mind. A cat that’s hissing at you is just afraid, usually, and given time and space may be cuddling in your lap a few hours later.

However, they are both sweet and loving and silly and fun. I have had both in the past and probably will again, in the future.

I like dogs, but have never had one. At this point in my life, I just don’t have enough time to properly take care of a dog. Maybe I’ll get one when I retire. If I do get one, it will stay outdoors. I’ll build it a heated dog house.

We have two cats, but no one in our family feels any emotional bond to them. They’re barn cats, and they stay outside 24/7. They are tools. Their job is to kill small rodents.

As you can see, I am one of those who strongly believes dogs and cats do not belong in the house…

dogs (depending on breed) - 100.
cats -50. we get along, but good lord if there’s an animal with a sense of entitlement, it’s a cat.

I meant + 70 on dogs, not negative.
