Raw eggs as an acne cure

Can anyone else verify this?

I read it a while back that applying either egg whites, or egg yolk to the affected area, letting it dry, then washing it off would help the skin, due to the high level of vitamin (A?,E?)

I should have clipped the article, but its too late now.

If anyone else has heard of this, help me out!

I am aware of quite a few treatments that have been proven to safely control acne in thousands of people and over many years of use but I have never heard of any evidence that putting egg on your face is either safe or effective for controlling acne. (Of course, the fact that I haven’t heard of such evidence or even the nonexistence of such evidence is no proof that egg doesn’t work.) Good luck.

I’ve read in many women’s magazines about the benefits of putting egg yolk on your face every day, letting it dry for about 10 minutes, and then washing it off. They were talking about the benefits of vitamin A in particular. However, I’m not sure that it’s an acne cure – I think they were promoting it for a good complexion in general. I tried it once but it was far too uncomfortable for me to want to do it every day (once it dries it feels horrible).

I am gonna try t. I am prone to adult acne on my jawline, and its really embarassing. However, I am not serious enough to warrant acutane or any other drug for it. I am on a waiting list for a dermatologist, but it could be a long long wait.

I first heard of it in Ann Landers I think, a letter from a some granny IIRC, about how it helped her grandson.

I wont use it all over my face, but will do a ‘controlled experiment’ (one side of my face. I will post any results.

My mother used to have me to wash my face with egg whites for a clearer complexion. All I can tell you for sure is that you and your bathroom will reek of eggs. Consider yourself warned.

I was talking to Mom about this, and she said it might cause salmonella?

BTW, I wash my face twice a day with Clearasil Daily Face Wash-and I HAVE noticed that I don’t get nearly as many pimples…in fact, I was just about zit free until I saw a big blind pimple on my chin…those are the worst…they HURT!
