Read/Unread timer resetting c. 5 minutes into a session

I’ve been having this issue for the first time tonight. Also, threads aren’t being listed correctly; the forum pages show up half of the time as if the last 3.5 hours haven’t happened.

For example, right now the top thread in GQ is “I don’t understand why Pétain and Weygand would not concede with this, according to Beevor,” and the last post is shown as being made by Little Nemo at 11:20 PM (EDT). But if I refresh a few times, everything from the past few hours drops off, and the top thread is “Why Don’t Hybrid Cars Recharge Batteries Like Gas Powered Cars Do?” with the last post being by Richard Pearse at 8:02 PM. The threads still work if I go to them (several posts have been made in the hybrid car thread since 8:02), but they don’t show up correctly on the main page or the individual forum pages.

It seems to be timing out every few minutes now. Are the hamsters manic depressive?

This problem has become extremely severe. I got on and at first it was showing that the last post for most of the forums wrmere ten hours ago.

We need to give the hamsters a beating in order to get them to stop slacking off.

They’re still working on fixing the server problem. Until that is corrected there will be all kinds of varying performance issues that will display in various ways.

We apologize for your inconvenience and hope this resolves soon.

Strange one last night -

I browse the boards this way - GQ, GD, CS, IMHO, MPSIMS, Pit. Well, the first three were OK but IMHO and MPSIMS were all marked as read. The Pit, however, was back to normal again.

I wonder if vBulletin is becoming aware and simply marking those things read that it knows you wouldn’t read anyway.

Bob

And again.

Same here, in IMHO. More espresso for the hamsters!

Regards,
Shodan

The board is COMPLETELY spastic today.

This is a weird one I just had to share. I went into Cafe Society first, opened up everything I wanted to read in tabs (everything was unread since my last visit), hit back, went into GD, and everything was marked as read. I went into a few other subforums and same thing. In the Pit? Everything was still unread since my last visit yesterday.

This has been happening to me a lot lately.

How am I supposed to share my moronic opinions with the rest of the world if I can’t even determine when threads have been updated?

It’s every time now.

Yep, it’s happening every time I browse these days and it’s extremely irritating.

Okay, mystery solved, and the problem was on my end. I’ve only recently started using Firefox more often, and in the Find box, I finally noticed the Match Case box was checked! I don’t use proper capitalization when doing a Find, so any words that were capped weren’t showing up. D’oh!:smack: It’s only by coincidence that words a did a Find for on other websites were lowercase.

There was still a real problem with that one Weird Earl’s offering, but it finally went away.

It just got weirder.

I started reading GQ. My last visited date was 6-10, TWO days ago. And I did visit yesterday.

Then I went to CS. Last visited was current date and time.

I proceeded to IMHO. Last visited date same as GQ!

Finally to MPSIMS. Last visited was current date and time.

At 4:26 PM, am I right?

I hope they are trying to figure out what is wrong and not just buying a new server. I agree that it is quite possible you need a bigger server to help fix things, but problems are happening too recently and frequently for that to be the only issue.

Starting yesterday when I would go to certain board (Cafe Society yesterday and today, but others too) only the stickies would appear. Reload did not correct the problem. Going to that board again from the drop down menu, would then display all of the messages but they were marked as all read.

I hope the board maintenance will take care of some of this. If not, I hope there is money to add the servers needed.

Bob

Honestly, I didn’t notice. However, right now I just came from the main forum page, and it STILL displayed the last visited as 6-10 12:05 AM Chicago time (I read the board late). That matches my browser history for that session.

Right now the ATMB thread listing page shows the correct last visited as “Yesterday [6-12] at 11:22 PM”, but as I’m creating this post the page shows last visited as the current date and time.

Weird. I guess the watchword is “patience”.

At last, the read/unread shit is working properly. Let us hope it says this way.

We seem to have broken through to the other side.
