I’m searching for Reagan-Bush primary debates leading up to the election of 1980. I want to either read the transcripts or watch the debates. I’m in Boston, but I’m going to be visiting NYC for a few days later this month…any ideas for any institutions which might have the video or transcripts? I’m afraid I’m not going to be in Simi Valley any time soon
Have you tried googling “Reagan-Bush Debates”? I see several videos on youtube come up.
Three small clips of their debates come up: a 3 minute clip of them talking about taxes, an 8 minute clip of them talking about illegal immigration, and the famous “I’m paying for this microphone, Mr. Green!” moment.
I’m looking for video or transcripts of the entire debates.
Thanks anyhow!
You might be able to find transcripts on the New York Times website, although you might have to pay to view the articles unless you’re a subscriber. You might be able to access the archived articles through your public library for free.
If googling doesn’t get you there, ask the reference librarian at a large public library. Boston or NYC should do.
The Museum of Television and Radio in New York might have them. You can view most of their collection on premises.
