Need help finding George W. Bush interviews

Hello Dopers,

I’m doing a little research, and it seems my Google-fu is weak (and for this particular type of research, the signal to noise ratio is in the red). I need to find any video, radio or newspaper interviews (preferrably video) done with George W. Bush that meet the following two criteria:

a) They have to have been done before GWB ran for governor of Texas in 1994.
b) They have to be in contexts outside of his own political career.

Additionally, anything in context of Arbusto Energy, Spectrum 7, Harken Energy or Texas Rangers ownership is more of interest to me.

I know that at least one video snippet exists out there because I have seen it – I am not sure where I’ve seen it, but it feels like it was a small part of a bigger interview in context of his position as an oil executive. It was used as an unrelated snippet in some documentary – but I can’t find it.

Basically I feel thwarted because it seems that I’m only finding one of two things

a) Recent interviews with or about George W. Bush
b) Older interviews with or about George H.W. Bush

Any suggestions? Hints as to where to look and how to search?
Thank you,

Groman

You basically need interviews done before 1995, when I think he became Gov. of Texas.

Since your location seems to be San Jose, you can go to the library at SJSU and use their electronic databases. Specifically, Lexis-Nexis. That might help you.

How serious are you about tracking this stuff down? Vanderbilt University has a huge archive of TV news videos (free registration required to search), but the cost to borrow copies may be prohibitive. The earliest interview with GWB I found was Aug 23, 1984 (during the Republican National Convention), on Good Morning America. The cost for that entire episode of GMA is $400, and that’s just a loaner. An alternative is to order a compilation of early GWB interviews. The cost is a $10 setup fee plus $27 per news segement. I think you can view the videos for free if you visit the campus in Nashville.

Great idea. Thank you.
