Snooooopy- I thought about making a monster movie with the rabbits. Put together a bunch of cardboard buildings, then do a voiceover as a newscaster telling people to run for their lives as the rabbits wander through the city knocking things over and eating them. 
Don’t forget the masterstroke which made “Lepus” so hideously amusing – doing close-ups of the rabbits while dubbing in lion roars.
There was a book published some years ago titled “The Year of the Angry Rabbit”. It was set in Australia I believe, and involved rabbits that mutated into vicious carnivores due to some virus, and then when the gov’t tried to nuke them they got really BIG! I can’t remember how it turned out though.
I want the people who made Babe the Gallant Pig to make Watership Down.
