"Real Guys" video: interesting contrasts, here...

Last night I saw an ad for a video/DVD called “Real Guys”. Apparently, the premise is to get twelve “hot guys” from all racial backgrounds and a fairly wide variety of “types” (e.g. the punk guy), and have them talk about themselves, what they as guys like, and what they like in women.

Though there apparently are some beefcake shots, this was marketed as a way to get into the head of hot guys, find out what they’re really like, what they don’t tell the girls in their lives, etc.

I just thought that this supplied an interesting dichotomy. When reality tapes are marketed to women, we get something like “Real Guys.” When reality tapes are marketed to men, we get something like “Girls Gone Wild: Doggy Style.”

Stereotypes at work, or just going for what works demographically?
