One who oams stars.
I don’t know about his twatness. Don’t think he is ignorant. He does come across as arrogant sometimes. So do I I’m sure. I don’t remember anything particularly Pit worthy.
Timely. I just started a thread about Stephen King’s latest book, and the second or third response was a link to that thread. I remembering thinking “who’s this asshole?”, fleetingly considered a snotty response and decided he wasn’t worth it. So rage on, Fenris, I’m with you all the way.
I agree with the OP that the quoted link was a threadshit and therefore pittable, but my vague impression of RealityChuck is not that he’s a compulsive threadshitter. A very quick search through his recent posting history seems to back that up.
. . . and won’t get over so long as he’s doing the limit.
From a thread about driving (and poor driving in particular)
This is just a sampling of what was posted in response to his self-righteous practice of ‘fuck you, I’m doin’ the limit, I’ll sit here in the passing lane for as long as I want’-driving
Meh. I stay out of the left lane for pragmatic reasons, but as far as theory is concerned, the people who think the left-lane speeders are the good guys are wrong.
Driving at the speed limit in the left lane is morally correct, it’s just stupid is all.
To the extent that traffic has a “moral” component, I would think that “Slower traffic keep right” is also a moral imperative.
Hmm, DIO said the same exact thing about left lane hogs-ever see him and RC in the same room together?
This was already discussed in that other, linked thread, but: it depends. In some areas the left lane is designated as the passing lane, and driving at the speed limit in it for any length of time is arguably morally, and certainly legally, incorrect.
[QUOTE=Illinois Rules of the Road]
Effective January 2004, when driving on an interstate highway or full access controlled freeway, a person may not drive in the left lane, except when passing another vehicle. Exceptions include when no other vehicle is directly behind the vehicle being driven in the left lane, when traffic conditions/congestion make it impractical to drive in the right lane, when weather conditions make it necessary to use the left lane, when there is an obstruction or hazard in the right lane, or when the driver is changing lanes to yield to emergency or construction vehicles.

Reality Chuck did not come off well in the Disbelief Unsuspended thread. Seemed like a shitter. And anyone advocating a right to impede traffic in the left lane is on the psycho end of the bell shaped curve.
OTOH. Mr. Chuck often makes thoughtful, intelligent, and informative posts. The Babylon 5 guy mentioned in the OP did not come off well, mostly crying about how some members of Science Fiction Writers of America were very mean, and implying that therefore SFWA was mean.
And while I haven’t followed any of the frozen food links in this thread, it looks like there’s evidence that Reality Chuck was not completely off base.
So, maybe the guy is just having some bad days and feeling pissy.
So did Hitler.
Does this mean he has been published as well?
Cite?
Nah, he came off as someone who knew what the fuck he was talking about.
Sadly, my book has won no awards. It’s done “pretty well” if your definition of that is “breaking even”. I expect my next royalty statement to actually be in the black for the first time. After over a decade on sale. (Don’t go into publishing for the money)
Uh – Gee – thanks.
In WA state it’s illegal and the state patrol focused on pulling people over that were doing this about a year ago.
Their goal is traffic flow and having cars blocking the passing lane was seen as working against that goal.
So… your work was made into a History Channel special? Was it about Nazis, Aliens, Alien Nazis, or did you go for broke and make it about Gay Alien Nazis What Built Pyramids and Told Nostradamus All About the End of the World?
None of the above. I believe that if you’re going to stand out in a venue, you have to break from the usual formula fare. So i wrote about decaying corpses (before they were cool), variable stars, and oral transmission.
Actually, I didn’t originally write for them at all. They came to me, But that’s another story, and I’ve already derailed this thread enough.
I’ve happened across RealityChuck’s persistent, idiosyncratic screeds on the failure of Alien as an artwork — although I wasn’t aware of his belief that anyone making similar criticisms against anything else is a moron. This amuses me (maybe too much). Surprised no one here has mentioned his bafflingly seething hatred of Seinfeld and, particularly, of the talented and un-obnoxious Jason Alexander (cite, cite, cite). And the salt thing, but I suppose that falls under “cooking”.
Whether or not he deserves this pitting, it’s a testament both to his repetitiveness and to his disagreeableness that so many examples come to mind. I couldn’t care less about the guy otherwise.
So he’s volatile, obsessive, and at times grandiose. I’d expect no less of a history buff and nostalgiac. We’re all that way - we live on the fringes of society and reality.
