I interpreted that as Ed Zotti making a joke about someone singing a hymn of Thanksgiving for Ed’s management. Of course, people’s reading of his comment will be coloured by their preconceptions. (like my reading of it was)

Exactly. The remark was made facetiously, and I replied facetiously. I wasn’t commenting about Liberal or anyone else. People are reading way too much into these things.

I was a little surprised by it, but Liberal’s gone. I’m sure he cares what people are saying about him, but it’s not as though Ed owes him anything anymore, is it?

Personally, I always liked Liberal, but he lost any respect I had for him with his stupid “new neighborhood” OP.

Actually, no it wasn’t at all. It was predicated entirely on the basic idea of a mayor being autocratic. This sounds wrong because a mayor is democratically elected, and is a servant of the people who put him in power. How is that remotely relevant? And where is the outrage if you correct that major, basic misconception?
