REALLY Good Computer Generated Fan Films

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned, but I just stumbled across these. Fan-made computer-generated short films. The Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom prequel Ashes of Nurhachi is arguably the best. I’m extremely impressed not only by the quality of the imagery and duplication of the characters and their voices, but also by the “camera movement”, the incredible detail of the “sets”, and, in this case, the writing, which manages to “set up” several key moments in the real IJatToD. There are also bits of very genuine humor and character creation.

There are lots of others, like INdiana Jones and the Eye of Poseidon

or the James Bond short A Bullet for Tomorrow

There ar plenty of others, but these appear to be some of the best I’ve seen.

The Bond film looks like a scene from the bank vault in Hogwarts.

I’m half expecting a dragon to emerge from the lava.

It’s far campier and visceral than the Indiana Jones film, but I really like Connery’s voice. It’s also cute that they mash together multiple elements from various movies – Connery as he looked in the first few Bond films, Donald Pleasance as Ernst Stavro Blofeld (PLeasance’s was the first depiction where we got to see Blofeld’s face, and it’s pretty iconic, better than Telly Savalas’ Blofeld or Charles Gray’s non-bald version. When mike Myers made up Dr. Evil, he modeled him on this version, and they recalled the character’s appearance at the end of the Daniel Vraig film S.P.E.C.T.R.E.) They got “Jaws” and the shark tank from The Spy who Loved Me and the interior of the volcan lab (complete with rocket and overhead hole) from the same film that gave us Pleasance, You Only Live Twice. Blofeld’s railcar is a souped-up version of the one from that. The chase scene, though, isn’t really Bond, it’s more Indy. And Tracy didn’t get killed until the movie after the one with Pleasance. But it’s a much more satisfying end to Blofeld that the one in the pre-title sequence in For Your Eyes Only

Star Trek TNG is a TV show.
