The intricacy and sheer length of this continuous shot choreography always amazes me. And it never comes off contrived. Roisin is an objet de art.
Roisin Art and sex, with the right videographer she (Moloko) was made.
Stacy’s Mom - Fountains of Wayne
The only music video that I can watch over and over and still pick up new things at laugh at them
I’ve always been partial to All Around the World by Oasis.
Seconding Tool. My guy friends made me watch Parabola at least once a week for 3 or 4 months. It’s so well put-together and creepy I can’t watch it without getting the ick-shivers.
It took 11 posts to mention Sabotage? The greatest video ever?
And no mention of:
Stacy’s Mom by Fountains of Wayne
Schism,
Sober,,
Prison Sex,
and Stinkfist by Tool with their creepy-ass fucking muppets
Smells like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
Sledge Hammer by Peter Gabriel
Southern California by Wax (directed by Spike Jonze)
Weapon of Choice by Fatboy Slim (featuring Christopher Walkin)
I see now people did manage to mention some of those videos in the time it tool me to find all them links. :smack:
I ran across this old Cab Calloway video and thought it was just great.
Ian Hunter’s “All Of The Good Ones Are Taken” always made me smile. The butler is priceless.
And we shouldn’t forget Thomas Dolby’s “She Blinded Me with Science.” “Good heavens, Miss Sakamoto, you’re beautiful!”
With the cameo vocal (and video) performance from the legendary Dr Magnus Pyke.
Where’s the effin’ Weird Al in this thread?
(Top 5 in order of IMO greatness)
my very delayed apologies, I have been working my ass off, so my usual habit of posting while sleepy is even worse.
thanks for fixing those
Punkrocker featuring Iggy Pop. Catchy, dark, and short.
Silent Shout by The Knife is a cool one. It’s more of a mood piece than a story.
Supreme Beings of Leisure - Never the Same
Another fun cinema-esque video.
As a case study in First Amendment issues, your collection should include Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back”.
The video features a group of scantily-clad dancers, gyrating lewdly.
Who are not half as obscene as the stop-motion animated lemons and apricots.
I don’t know how the animators managed that, but they did. It is breathtakingly crass.
Guns N Roses-November Rain
'Nuff said.
Okay, I gotta agree with the posters that said Weird Al’s “White and Nerdy”, Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage”, and My Chemical Romance’s “Ghosts of You”.
The one that sticks out in my mind most is Modest Mouse’s “Oceans Breathe Salty”. It flips back and forth between the real world and what it’s like through the eyes of a kid. It’s a little sad, but I like it because it reminds me of what the world seemed like when I was little and makes me a little nostalgic for more innocent times.
I’d post a link but for some reason YouTube crashes the computers here at my work (God I hate macs).
One of my all-time favourite videos and songs - Don Henley’s “Boys of Summer.” He hit that magic sweet spot where the video and the song make each other more together than they are separately.
One of my husband’s favourites - “Doesn’t Really Matter” by Platinum Blonde.
