Texas has skated awfully close to a Republican supermajority in most recent electoral cycles (meaning that they can overturn a veto or filibuster outright without Democratic support),and even had one in 2010, and despite that they haven’t managed to wreck the place outright yet. It’s not a done deal yet though, considering as much of a mentally challenged fool that Dan Patrick is. If anything, the state is doing well economically, although not in other metrics.
You’d have to incentivize it, like a NFL contract. Give him $10M extra for every point of approval rating above 50% when he leaves office or something.
