Really, how educated is Bill Nye the Science Guy

I read an article about how he is now coming out with a show about addiction, sex, and all the good stuff… crazy, I know.

Well, I was interested to find out where he went to school and the extent of his education. Under “Bill Info” on Bill’s website it says he received a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from cornell. Well, that is all I can find under education.

Yet, under “Nicknames” he says that he likes to be called Dr. Nye. AFAIK he is not a Dr. Can someone prove me wrong? Has he really only gotten a four year degree?

If it says on his own website that all he has is a B.S., then I would assume that all he has is a B.S.

I imagine that people tend to assume that he’s a “Doctor”, and address him as “Dr. Nye”, and thus he put the note on his website to clarify things–he’s not “Dr. Nye”, it’s just a nickname.

He was an engineer at Boeing for a while. And you can’t fully appreciate Bill Nye until you’ve seen him as Speed Walker, the race-walking superhero.
