Really, what can a progressive/ally actually do that makes a difference?

Because I’m not sure that any of it matters? I hate to sound like an ass saying that, because it may well matter on a personal or small-scale basis.

But in the big picture, I feel like there’s an entrenched population that won’t support anything besides WASP-y, Trumpian values no matter what.

So for one, I’m not a ‘marcher’…in fact the prospect, for me, is a bit horrifying. But I dribble money as I can at causes a believe in; public radio, journalism, activism/organizations. Sharing polite but pointed things on social media, tactfully rebutting ignorance. Also, sometimes not, when warranted. But does it matter?

Am I REALLY making a difference? I feel like it’s a bit pointless.

For background, I’m saying this from the point of view of a former conservative/libertarian. But what saved me was being skeptical and having access to information, and then being able to believe the information I was presented with. I just don’t feel like that’s a ‘thing’ anymore among the people that really need it.

I’m kind of stuck…I can’t change people’s minds, but I don’t feel like the support I can give as a whole to the people that need it is actually going to matter. On a personal level, surely, but maybe that’s all I can do?

Does giving money, voting, (ugh) showing up at events really, REALLY matter in the big picture?
